An unfortunate passenger of a Honda Accord was killed in a car accident with a Toyota Rav4 Monday night on I-25 in Colorado.
The driver of the black Toyota Rav4 was involved in several auto collisions along Thornton Parkway before turning southbound into a northbound lane of traffic on I-25. The Web staff at KDVR Denver report:
Investigators say the SUV hit several vehicles, and before police could stop the wrong-way driver, her SUV crashed into a Honda Accord near 58th Ave. at 11:18[pm MST].
Randy Barber, reporter for 9News, brings us some more details:
Before police could respond to the reports, however, the Rav4 slammed into a 1991 Honda Accord station wagon near 58th Avenue. Troopers say the driver of the Honda swerved to avoid the impact with the SUV, but was struck on the passenger side. A female passenger in the Honda was killed in the crash.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the Denver Health Medical center. According to Colorado State Troopers, the Honda Accord driver had minor to moderate injuries. The Rav4 driver’s injuries were not disclosed.
Northbound I-25 at I-70 was closed until shortly before sunrise on Tuesday morning while Colorado State Patrol investigated the car accident. Both sources cited above report that drugs and/or alcohol may have been contributing factors in the collisions.
