Saturday afternoon was witness to a tragic and fatal motorcycle accident on Highway 139 in Colorado. 60-year-old Maureen “Mimi” Tanner of Casper, WY was identified by the Mesa Country Coroner’s Office after she crashed her Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Douglas Pass.

Amy Hamilton, a reporter for The Daily Sentinel, gives us some details:

Tanner was riding her 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with 10 other women riders north on Colorado Highway 139 when she failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The motorcycle hit a guardrail along the right side of the highway and Tanner was thrown about 150 feet down an embankment, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Hamilton also reports that, according to Sgt. Scott Simons of the Colorado State Patrol, Tanner and her fellow motorcyclists were en route to Rangely, CO for a barbecue after a joint shopping expedition in Grand Junction when the motorcycle accident occurred around 4 p.m.

NBC 11 News has a video report about the fatality up on their website for those who would like some additional coverage.
