Colorado Deputy Involved in Three Car Accident, Cited for Careless Driving
A car accident in Jefferson County, Colorado resulted in three people being taken to the hospital. In an unusual twist, the party responsible for the collision was an on-duty law enforcement officer from Jefferson County. While responding to a call for assistance from another deputy, he got a bit careless. Kim Nguyen, managing editor of TheDenverChannel.com, reports the details on Officer.com :
At about 5:15 p.m., the deputy tried to do a U-turn in the median near Bowles but his cruiser was hit by two F-350 pickup trucks from behind. The crash sent the two pickup trucks into the guardrail.
The deputy, his partner and one of the truck drivers were taken to Swedish Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff’s office identified the deputy as Steven Cer.
Cer, a senior deputy in the car, and the driver of one of the trucks had minor injuries. Cer was cited for careless driving by the state patrol.
The sheriff’s office is reviewing the accident to decide what, if any, measures will be taken against Cer.
As we’ve talked about before, careless driving is the cause of a lot of accidents on the road; and this is true no matter who the driver is. Fortunately, in this case the accident was not fatal.
