Halle Berry Released From Hospital After Suffering Head Injury on Movie Set
News reports say Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry, who suffered a minor head injury Tuesday night around 10 p.m. while on the set of her latest movie, “The Hive,” is okay now. After taking a bad fall on set, she was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. TMZ writes that people around her called for help when she started throwing up after she hit her head on the concrete, as vomiting could be a sign of a concussion.
Alexis L. Loinaz writes for E! News that the injury occurred while Berry, 45, was shooting a fight sequence in the film. According to E! News, Berry’s rep said: “She was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but she checked out healthy and was released. She’ll continue production as planned.”
This was the star’s second recent work-related accident, as Berry broke her foot earlier this year while on location in Spain for the film “Cloud Atlas,” which kept her from appearing at the Academy Awards in February, E! News notes. IMDB says that “Cloud Atlas,” scheduled to be released in October, is a sci-fi/mystery/drama.
Halle Berry was initially cast in the lead role with Joel Schumacher directing. Schumacher dropped out and was replaced by Brad Anderson. Berry dropped out due to scheduling conflicts but once the start date was pushed up, she returned in the lead role.
Despite the glamor of the entertainment industry, injuries can happen anywhere. Last week, as Gaby Calabrese writes in the …ology article, titled “Ouch! 10 Stars Who Have Been Injured on Set,” singer/actress Kristen Chenoweth was rushed to the hospital after being hit on the head by scaffolding on the Brooklyn set of the TV show “The Good Wife.” Chenoweth was released from the hospital and has spent several days recovering, according to Calabrese.
