Four Arrested In Fatal Valet Hit and Run
Four people have been taken into custody in connection with a fatal hit and run accident outside a downtown Denver night club. The accident, which we reported on here, took the life of 21 year-old Jose Medina, who was working as a valet for the club.
The four people now in custody are believed to be illegal immigrants. According to Tom McGee, a reporter for The Denver Post, Eliu Montes-Garcia, 28, was the first one arrested, on Tuesday (January 25). His arrest was followed by three more:
Norma Paola Vera-Nolasco, 32, was taken into custody in Phoenix around 9 p.m. [Wed. January 26]. Police arrested her moments before the US Airways plane she was aboard was to take off. Police did not clarify her role in Medina’s death.
Two others were arrested on Wednesday in the Denver metro area — Yolanda Bastida-Nolasco, 43, and Guadalupe Bastida , 47. Police have accused both of them of being accessories after the fact.
Authorities report that all four of the people in custody are believed to be in the U.S. illegally, and that Eliu Montes-Garcia had an array of traffic and drug offenses on his record. Police have not disclosed which of the four is believed to have been the driver of the vehicle that struck Medina.
