Student Killed in Rail Accident in Colorado
A 19 year-old student from Red Wing, Minnesota was killed last Tuesday when he was hit by a train. The Austin Post-Bulletin has details of the accident:
Denver authorities say Exner was hit about 200 yards from the Alameda station while trespassing in a restricted area. The rail line was closed for two hours after the accident.
Exner was pronounced dead at the scene around 2 p.m. Tuesday, though the Denver Office of Medical Examiner didn’t release his identity until Thursday morning.
It is always tragic when a life is lost, especially a life as promising as this young man who had moved to Colorado to pursue studies in radiology.
In a tribute to the deceased, according to a Facebook post, several of Exner’s local friends here in Colorado are planning to create a memorial at the rail station near the site of his accident.
