Nederland Man Dies in Rollover Accident
Daniel M. Riley of Nederland, Colorado died Saturday night in a rollover car accident according to the Boulder Country Coroner.
Alan Gathright of ABC7 The Denver Channel brings us the police report on the crash:
Colorado State Patrol Sgt. John Hahn said Riley was driving an Isuzu Rodeo southbound on Highway 119 near Nederland about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when he lost control. The Isuzu veered off the right side of the road, struck the mountain side, bounced back onto the roadway and rolled over.
The Daily Camera has some additional information from Officer Hahn concerning the crash:
The man was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle, Hahn said. He was declared dead on the scene.
Hahn said investigators don’t know whether alcohol played a role in the accident. They also are looking at how fast the man was driving.
As with so many car accident fatalities, once again we see that Riley was not wearing his seat belt during the crash. It is quite likely that wearing a seat belt during the accident would have kept Riley from being ejected, which my have saved his life.
