Injured Child Survives Her Mother and Sibling in Collision
A family has been shattered by the crude blow dealt them in the form of an auto accident last Monday, when a mother and child were killed, and another child was hospitalized. Alan Gathright, a content producer for 7 News, synopsizes the accident:
The collision occurred between a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria traveling eastbound on Highway 52 and a 2003 Dodge Neon heading westbound, the State Patrol said.
One person was pronounced dead on scene. The two children were airlifted to The Children’s Hospital in Aurora with unknown injuries, the State Patrol said.
Tanya Guevara and her five-week-old son both died that day, she at the scene and he at the hospital afterward. Her four-year-old daughter remains hospitalized at The Children’s Hospital in Denver. According to statements issued by the Colorado State Patrol, the collision occurred after another vehicle attempted to pass in a no-passing zone. The driver is being charged with driving under the influence, among other things.
