Head On Collision South of Boulder: Cadillac Possibly Fleeing Arrest
A head on collision just south of Boulder resulted in serious personal injuries to all three people involved, as well as an arrest for one driver.
Stacy Torrez, 45, of Brighton, was driving a red Cadillac Eldorado west on Marshall Drive when a sheriff’s deputy tried to pull over the car around 4:30 p.m.
Torrez then crossed into the eastbound lanes between South Cherryvale Road and 66th Street, according to Trooper Heather Cobler, where he struck a light blue Hyundai Sonata, driven by Debra Arnold, whose hometown was not released.
Torrez initially fled from the scene, but he was later arrested by sheriff’s deputies.
John Aguilar, another staff writer for the Daily Camera, reports that, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Heather Cobler, since the accident occurred within seconds of the deputy putting on his lights, authorities are unsure whether Torrez was trying to flee.
Cobler shared some more details about the parties involved:
- Ms. Arnold was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.
- Stephen Ridgeway, the passenger in Torrez’s vehicle was also taken to the hospital with injuries but there is no information on their extent.
- Torrez himself fled the scene of the collision and was picked up later by sheriff’s deputies.
