Truck Accident in Centennial Kills One Pedestrian, Injures Another
A fatal accident involving pedestrians earlier this month has shaken the community of Centennial, Colorado. At 1 pm on October 6th, two elderly women standing near a mailbox were struck by a furniture truck. Only one of the victims survived.
Nicole Howley, a writer for Justice NewsFlash, brings us some details:
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office reported that two women were standing near the mailbox when a furniture delivery began to back up on East Briarwood Drive. The truck hit both of the women, killing one and injuring the other.
The rear wheels of the truck hit Margaret Ann Hermansen, 62, practically dragging her underneath.
Responding emergency crews rushed the two victims to Littleton Hospital for treatment. Sadly, Hermansen was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office states that the investigation of this truck accident remains ongoing, although no arrests have been made at this time. An Associated Press article in The Washington Post reports that a witness claims to have shouted at the driver to stop.
There is no word on the possibility of alcohol use, distracted driving, or other contributing factors as the time of this report.
