Single Vehicle Rollover Accident in Weld County Kills One, Injures Six
A single vehicle accident yesterday claimed one life and left several others with personal injuries in Weld County, Colorado.
According to Randy Barber, a reporter for 9News, the rollover car accident occurred near the intersection of Weld County roads 13 and 80 at 1:49 am Wednesday. Barber reports that “seven people were inside the vehicle when the driver lost control, rolling the vehicle over into a nearby canal. Troopers say several of the occupants were ejected during the crash.” Colorado State Police also suspect the possibility that alcohol was involved.
April Schildmeyer, news producer for The Denver Channel, has a quote from Colorado State Police spokesperson Trooper Heather Cobler:
‘Multiple parties were ejected and several parties were trapped when it rolled into a canal,’ said Cobler.
Rescue crews pulled everyone from the vehicle and transported them to nearby hospitals. ‘One person was pronounced dead at Poudre Valley hospital,’ said Cobler.
The identities and conditions of the other accident victims have not been released at the time of this report.
Considering the number of people in the vehicle and the reports that several were ejected during the crash, it seems likely that some, if not all, of the victims were without seat belts at the time, though no report so far has confirmed or denied this.
