Michael Roberts, a blogger on Denver Westword Blogs, provides the following Denver police department release (including the picture used here):
[Wednesday] evening at approximately 5:30 p.m. Denver Police arrested Brandon Mondragon (DOB 8/21/89). Mondragon has been identified as the driver of the PT Cruiser that was involved in the hit and run accident that occurred on October 3, 2010 at the intersection of 20th Street and Chestnut Street. Earlier today, Denver Police obtained an arrest warrant for Mondragon…
Brandon Mondragon has been arrested for investigation of Careless Driving resulting in Injury, C.R.S. 42-4-1402 (Class 1 Misdemeanor)(2 counts); Accidents involving SBI — Duty, C.R.S. 42-4-1601 (Class 5 Felony)(2 counts); Duty to give Notice, Information and Aid, C.R.S. 42-4-1603 (Misdemeanor Traffic Offense); Duty to Report Accidents, C.R.S. 42-4-1606 (Class 2 Misdemeanor Traffic Offense). He is currently in the Arapahoe County Jail.
Joey Bunch, a reporter for The Denver Post, reports that Mondragon was arrested at his place of employment in Littleton after two passengers that were riding with him that night gave statements to the police indicating the three had been drinking at local bars that evening before the hit and run. Mondragon’s car was found the next day. It had been abandoned in Arvada and had a smashed windshield, as well as other damage indicating a recent accident.
Once more, we see evidence the sudden and drastic impact that a car accident can have. Not only in personal injuries, but also in hospital bills, lost income, and a host of other fallout both psychological and physical — and not just for the victims, but their families, as well.
