Two Rollover Car Accidents in El Paso County, Colorado Result in Personal Injury and Fatality
El Paso County, Colorado was the site of a pair of rollover car accidents last Saturday. Edward Dubovik, a 56 year-old native of Colorado Springs was the driver in the first accident, which occurred around 5 am last Saturday morning. KKTV Channel 11 brings us the details:
Investigators say the 2004 Chevrolet Blazer was eastbound on Heaston, approaching the Y-intersection with Ramah Highway. As the driver attempted a right turn, the vehicle went off the road, rolling several times down a hill.
Police statements indicate that Dubovik was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the car crash. He was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene by authorities. According to official statements made on Sunday, drugs and alcohol were probably not factors in the accident, although excessive speed may have contributed.
At 6:30 pm a second rollover accident occurred. Thankfully, this one was not fatal. What few details are available on this car accident come to us from The Colorado Springs Gazette:
A car rolled over shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Woodmen Road and Golden Sage Road, northwest of Falcon.
The driver was airlifted to Penrose Hospital with serious injuries, Wynn said. The crash remains under investigation.
Not all auto accidents are collisions with another vehicle. Even on an open and empty stretch of road, a driver can lose control due to an array of factors. Keep your eyes on the road, obey the speed limit, and don’t drink and drive!
