Grand Junction, Colorado Motorcycle Accident Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
Another motorcyclist is no longer with us after a motorcycle accident last Monday near the Colorado-Utah border. The unnamed motorcyclist from Indiana lost control while taking a curve on Douglas Pass (Grand Junction, Garfield County, Colorado), injuring two other motorcyclists in the oncoming lane and losing his own life.
Paul Shockley of The Daily Sentinel provides the basic details on the accident:
The man, who wasn’t immediately identified by authorities, was riding south on Colorado Highway 139 just before noon at milepost 32 when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the road, according to State Trooper Greg Dokken.
Colorado State Trooper Dokken also notes in his statement that the other two motorcyclists were both visiting from Germany and were being treated for unspecified personal injuries. According to Trooper Dokken via an Associated Press article on the San Francisco Examiner, the motorcyclist from Indiana was pronounced dead on the scene. There is no information available on whether he was wearing a helmet at the time, or whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
