Fatal Colorado Car Accident Involving Mustang and Semi
Interstate 70 in Colorado was the scene of a fatal car accident involving a purple Ford Mustang last Monday. The Mustang rear-ended a semi, and, as the smaller vehicle in the crash, suffered the worst of the damage. Few details are currently available. This comes to us via The Summit Daily News:
Colorado State Patrol responded just after 2:15 p.m. to the accident that happened just east of the Eisenhower Tunnel.
The Mustang was driving in the right lane behind the semi when it ran into it from behind, said Trooper Nate Reid, a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
What caused the accident is still unknown and is currently under investigation by Colorado police. No statements have been made about the possible involvement (or lack thereof) of drugs, alcohol, or excessive speed in the car accident. Unfortunately, the crash resulted in the tragic loss of a life. ABC 7 The Denver Channel provides what limited information is available:
One of the three people in the Mustang was killed and the two other people had to be extricated from the wreckage. Their conditions were not known.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
According to reports, the fatality was a female passenger in the Mustang’s front seat. She died on the scene. The driver, an unidentified male, was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital by helicopter while one of the surviving female passengers was also taken there by ground transport. The condition of the driver and other passenger have not been released.
