Colorado Rollover Car Accident Claims Life of 21 Year Old
The Colorado Connection reports the circumstances of the car accident:
The single-vehicle crash happened at approximately 10:48 p.m. north of County Line Road.
Trooper say a blue GMC Yukon was northbound when it drifted off the side of the road toward the center median.
Investigators say the driver overcorrected, causing the Yukon to roll.
Lauren Jewel was transported to Penrose Hospital with moderate injuries. Colorado police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. KKTV tells us about the other occupants of the car, the driver’s siblings:
The front passenger, 21-year-old Whitney Jewel was pronounced dead on scene. Thomas Jewel, 16, is listed in critical condition at Penrose Hospital. The youngest sister of the group, 13-year-old Merritt Jewel, is in fair condition at Memorial Hospital. Lauren is listed in good condition at Penrose.
If it had not been for the fact that they were all wearing seat-belts, the results could have been far worse. Even when only a single motor vehicle is involved, rollover accidents such as this can cause multiple fatalities.
According to the KKTV report, the Jewels were preparing to move to Iowa. Elder Clint Lasson, who attends their Church, stated that their congregation will rally around the family in its time of trouble.
