Multiple Accidents on I-25 Across Colorado
I-25 was a chaotic place to be last Sunday. According to police reports, there were cars piled up, accident after accident, all across the State of Colorado. Most of the accidents occurred on the strip of I-25 between Baptist Road and Monument. KKTV reports:
The first was a five-car accident on south-bound I-25 at mile marker 158, which is near Baptist Road.
Traffic was backed up all the way to Monument.
There was also an accident on the south-bound lanes of I-25 near mile marker 161, and another accident in the north-bound lanes near mile marker 162. These accidents were all within about 10 miles of each other, mostly between Baptist Road and Monument
In addition to these three auto accidents, another accident occurred near the Cimarron exit. For this one, police cite speed as a factor. In James Egbert’s report, also for KKTV, he states that police estimate the car was going over 100 miles per hour. Egbert gives us a detailed description of the accident:
The initial call came from an El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy who was passed by a car reportedly going at a high rate of speed while traveling south on the interstate. The Deputy attempted to make contact with the driver of the speeding car but before he could the speeding driver lost control, hitting the center barrier then spinning across the interstate and hitting the guard rail before coming to a stop
Indeed Sunday was a bad day for motor vehicle accidents across Colorado. Fortunately, the only injuries reported were in this last accident. That driver was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
